Banjo Bridges by Bart

Dark Star Banjo Bridge

Dark Star - a specialty banjo bridge with amazing clarity

I designed the Dark Star specifically for clarity and tonal cleanliness throughout its amazing dynamic range. This is especially desirable for recording sessions or amplified stage performances- if you're fed up with sound engineers thrashing your prized instruments then this is one bridge that definitely deserves you consideration.

Like the Archie, the Dark Star  passes the 'low force test' with flying colours. Low force? Yes, as in barely picking a note and still have it sound clear and distinct up and down the neck despite the low volume.

Being as thin as Dark Stars are is where of part of the magic comes from - string vibrations have a more direct transmission path to the head and this thinness also makes them very forgiving when it comes to intonation issues. The magic, however, comes from the selection of exquisite wood combination.

To celebrate their uniqueness I identify them with the circle mark in the top near the middle - hold it near a light and you'll see it glow red, red hot and ready for action. Don't settle for imitations - if it doesn't have the red hot dot it's not a Dark Star.

Dark Stars are available from 9/16" to 11/16" tall but keep in mind: maximum performance is achieved at 5/8" height. How much do they weigh? Hmmm, like the Archies, weight doesn't tell you anything really so let's just stick to superior performance.

*** Dark Stars are straight bridges - sorry, due to the design and structural ***
*** properties radiused and compensation are not available as options ***

Dark Stars don't mind whatever style you play, they'll happily accommodate thee-finger, clawhammer single string or whatever other style - they thrive on bringing out the melody in all musical environments.

One thing to keep in mind: because of how thin Dark Stars are you must reduce string tension before mounting and positioning this bridge. It doesn't matter how experienced you are with bridge changes-outs:

*** failure to reduce string tension first will result in string slot chipping! ***

By the way, I been asked why I named it the Dark Star quite a few times. Nope, I'm not a dead head and didn't like the 70ties scifi spoof movie. This bridge simply is a bright new star and the wood happens to be dark.
